MBS RESIN

MBS Resin or named MBS Modifier LB series product is a grade of MBS products developed with advanced synthetic resin technology, ternary copolymerized by Methyl Methacrylate(M), Butadiene(B) and Styrene(S). It is an integrated resin for improving impact strength and processing performance of PVC products. Chlorinated polyethylene

Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) is a kind of powder product which uses HDPE to suspend and chlorinate in water phase. With the increase of chlorination degree, the original crystalline HDPE gradually becomes an amorphous elastomer. The content of CL in CPE used as toughening agent is generally 25-45%. CPE has a wide source and low price. Besides toughening effect, it also has cold resistance, weather resistance, fire resistance and chemical resistance. At present, CPE is the leading impact modifier in China, especially in PVC pipe and profile production, most factories use CPE. The addition amount is generally 5-15. CPE can be used in combination with other toughening agents, such as rubber, EVA, etc., with better effect, but rubber additives are not resistant to aging. CPE is chlorinated polyethylene, which is made of HDPE by partial chlorination. Due to the existence of chlorine atom, CPE has softness and some rubber properties, and makes CPB a polar polymer with the same polar group as PVC, increasing the compatibility with PVC, so the polymer chain can maintain enough van der Waals force, thus improving the impact resistance and toughening effect of PVC. Moreover, CPE has the function of accelerating PVC melting and plasticizing. With the increase of CPE content, the plasticizing time is shortened, the plasticizing torque and equilibrium torque are increased, and the viscosity of plasticized melt is increased. ACM Impact Modifier

ACM impact modifier is a new type of PVC impact modifier, which is an interpenetrating network copolymer formed by grafting of lightly chlorinated HDPE and acrylate, overcomes the shortcomings of high glass transition temperature and poor dispersion of CPE products, and can give them better toughness and impact resistance at low temperature, which is suitable for low temperature toughening, and can also improve the weatherability of products. It can replace CPE + PA in the formulation system and is mainly used in the processing fields of PVC pipes, pipe fittings and injection parts. The unique composition of ACM impact modifier imparts excellent low-temperature impact resistance and it has been extensively tested for long-term weather resistance and impact and color retention. The wide processing window of ACM impact modifier assures a consistently flawless "satin" surface finish.Because of the Low melt viscosity of ACM, extrusion temperatures are lower, resulting in enhanced compound stability and output.The application method of ACM isthe same as that of ACR(AIM). MBS Impact Modifier

MBS impact modifier is a copolymer of methyl methacrylate, butadiene and styrene. The solubility parameter of MBS is 94-9.5, which is close to that of PVC. Therefore, MBS has good compatibility with PVC. Its biggest feature is that transparent products can be made by adding PVC. Generally, adding 10-17 phr of PVC can increase the impact strength of PVC by 6-15 times, but when MBS is more than 30 phr, the impact strength of PVC will decrease. MBS itself has good impact performance, good transparency, light transmittance up to more than 90%, and at the same time, it has little impact on other properties of the resin, such as tensile strength, elongation at break and so on. MBS has a high price and is often used in combination with other impact modifiers, such as EAV, CPE, SBS, etc. MBS has poor heat resistance and weather resistance, so it is not suitable for outdoor long-term use products. Generally, MBS is not used as impact modifier in the production of plastic door and window profiles. MBS resin is a kind of core-shell copolymer which is grafted by MMA and dried by salting out. The modified PVC can improve its impact strength and comprehensive properties. Because of its similar refractive index with PVC, the modified PVC has better transparency, so it is widely used in transparent products. It is not suitable for outdoor products because it contains butadiene, which is easy to decompose and age when exposed to light.MBS can not only give good toughening effect and excellent transmittance of hard PVC, but also improve its processability, because MBS intertwined PVC in the plasticizing process and rubbed each other, which not only promoted the disintegration of PVC particles, but also bonded with PVC particles, which promoted the gelation of PVC. Acrylic impact modifier or named ACR impact modifier contains the core formed by acrylate crosslinked elastomer, and the shell composed of methyl methacrylate ethyl acrylate copolymer is outside the core. The impact strength of a good blend system of ACR and PVC can be more than 10 times higher than that of PVC, and its tensile property is also greatly improved, especially for outdoor rigid PVC plastic products.
